  • The Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a 3-year program designed to prepare students to become competent nurses and midwives. The curriculum follows the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and covers essential subjects such as anatomy, physiology, community health, and midwifery, along with practical training in various healthcare settings

Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates applying for the ANM program must have:

  • Age Requirement: The minimum age for admission is 17 years, and the maximum age is 35 years.

    Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed the +2 examination or its equivalent, preferably with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) with a minimum aggregate of 40% marks.
  • Candidates who have completed a +2 vocational ANM course (revised after 2001) from a school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council are also eligible.
  • Those who have undergone ANM training (10 + 1½ year training) should have passed the +2 examination or its equivalent.
  • Medical Fitness: The candidate must be medically fit to undergo the rigorous academic and clinical training required for the course.

Mode of Admission

  • Admission to the GNM program is conducted through both Government Quota and Management Quota. Selection for the government quota is based on the merit list finalized by the respective authorities, while the management quota is filled by the college management based on merit and other criteria.

Admission Procedures

All admissions are governed by the rules and regulations set forth by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University and the Indian Nursing Council. A candidate’s admission is considered confirmed only after the registration process is completed and certified by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, subject to the remittance of the prescribed fees.

Steps for Admission:

1. Obtaining Application Form
  • Candidates can obtain the application form and prospectus directly from the office of Sri K. Ramachandran Naidu College of Nursing.
  • The application must be filled out in the *prescribed format* provided by the college.
2. Submission of Application
  • Candidates are required to submit the completed application form within the stipulated time frame. All required documents must be attached, including academic certificates, identification proof, and any other supporting materials mentioned in the application form.
3. Scrutiny and Merit-Based Selection
  • The college's selection committee will scrutinize all submitted applications.
  • Candidates will be selected based on their academic merit (as per the cut-off marks) and their performance in a personal interview conducted by the committee.
  • The interview process allows the committee to evaluate the candidate's suitability for the M.Sc. Nursing program, their commitment to the field, and their readiness for advanced nursing education.
4. Interview
  • In addition to evaluating the academic records, shortlisted candidates may be required to attend a personal interview conducted by the selection committee. The interview will assess the candidate’s motivation and suitability for the nursing profession.
