The Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing) is a bridge program aimed at diploma holders in nursing who wish to enhance their qualifications to the level of a bachelor's degree. This program equips students with critical thinking skills, enhanced clinical knowledge, and the ability to take on leadership roles in nursing practice.

Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates applying for the ANM program must have:

  • Qualification: Candidates must have successfully completed a Diploma in Nursing and be a Registered Nurse and Midwife with the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council or any other State Nursing Council accepted by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience after registration as a nurse is required. This can be in a teaching institution, hospital, or as a full-time Public Health Nurse.
  • Registration Evidence: If the registration certificate is not immediately available, other authenticated documents (such as a receipt or official document from the State Nursing Council) will be accepted as temporary proof of registration.
  • For Male Candidates: Male nurses who are registered with the State Nurses Registration Council must produce evidence of having completed one of the requisite 6-month training programs approved by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery training.
  • Medical Fitness: Prior to admission, all candidates must provide a medical fitness certificate from an authorized medical officer. This certificate must confirm that the candidate is physically fit to pursue the course and does not have any disabilities or contagious diseases.

Mode of Admission

  • The admission process is conducted under the supervision of the Government of Tamil Nadu and follows a merit-based selection system:
  • Government Quota: The selection committee constituted by the government finalizes the selection of candidates based on their cut-off marks
  • Management Quota: For seats under the management quota, candidates will be selected by the college management and principal, based on their merit and performance in an interview.

Admission Procedures

All admissions are governed by the rules and regulations set forth by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University and the Indian Nursing Council. A candidate’s admission is considered confirmed only after the registration process is completed and certified by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, subject to the remittance of the prescribed fees.

Steps for Admission:

1. Obtaining Application Form
  • Candidates can obtain the application form and prospectus directly from the office of Sri K. Ramachandran Naidu College of Nursing.
  • The application must be filled out in the prescribed format provided by the college.
2. Submission of Application
  • Candidates are required to submit the completed application form within the stipulated time frame. All required documents must be attached, including academic certificates, identification proof, and any other supporting materials mentioned in the application form.
3. Scrutiny and Merit-Based Selection
  • The college's selection committee will scrutinize all submitted applications.
  • Candidates will be selected based on their academic merit (as per the cut-off marks) and their performance in a personal interview conducted by the committee.
  • The interview process allows the committee to evaluate the candidate's suitability for the M.Sc. Nursing program, their commitment to the field, and their readiness for advanced nursing education.
4. Final Confirmation of Admission
  • Admission is only confirmed once the candidate's registration is certified by *The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University.
  • Candidates must remit the *prescribed registration fees* to the university to complete the admission process.
